MHD Study of Extreme Space Weather Conditions for Exoplanets With Earth‐Like Magnetospheres: On Habitability Conditions and Radio‐Emission

چکیده

The present study aims at characterizing the habitability conditions of exoplanets with an Earth-like magnetosphere inside habitable zone M stars and F like tau Boo, caused by direct deposition stellar wind on exoplanet surface if shielding is inefficient. In addition, radio emission generated a calculated for different space weather conditions. based set MHD simulations performed code PLUTO reproducing expected orbiting type Boo. Exoplanets hosted 0.2 au are protected from during regular CME-like star rotation period slower than 3 days, that to say, faster rotators generate winds interplanetary magnetic fields large enough endanger habitability. Boo >= 2.5 conditions, but stronger field compared Earth mandatory close inner edge (2.5 au) shield range values in consistent scaling proposed [Zarka 2018] common If telescopes measure relative low signal small variability exoplanet, may indicate favorable respect states considered intrinsic exoplanet.

Effects of extreme obliquity variations on the habitability of exoplanets.

We explore the impact of obliquity variations on planetary habitability in hypothetical systems with high mutual inclination. We show that large-amplitude, high-frequency obliquity oscillations on Earth-like exoplanets can suppress the ice-albedo feedback, increasing the outer edge of the habitable zone. We restricted our exploration to hypothetical systems consisting of a solar-mass star, an E...

The effects of stellar winds on the magnetospheres and potential habitability of exoplanets

Context. The principle definition of habitability for exoplanets is whether they can sustain liquid water on their surfaces, i.e. that they orbit within the habitable zone. However, the planet’s magnetosphere should also be considered, since without it, an exoplanet’s atmosphere may be eroded away by stellar winds. Aims. The aim of this paper is to investigate magnetospheric protection of a pla...

Astrophysical Conditions for Planetary Habitability

With the discovery of hundreds of exoplanets and a potentially huge number of Earth-like planets waiting to be discovered, the conditions for their habitability have become a focal point in exoplanetary research. The classical picture of habitable zones primarily relies on the stellar flux allowing liquid water to exist on the surface of an Earth-like planet with a suitable atmosphere. However,...

Comparative Habitability of Transiting Exoplanets

Exoplanet habitability is traditionally assessed by comparing a planet’s semi-major axis to the location of its host star’s “habitable zone,” the shell around a star for which Earth-like planets can possess liquid surface water. The Kepler space telescope has discovered numerous planet candidates near the habitable zone, and many more are expected from missions such as K2, TESS and PLATO. These...
